Dewsbury man jailed in latest sentencing for child sexual exploitation
By Naila Arif
Asuk Hussain was jailed for more than a decade after being found guilty of sexually assaulting a child. This sentencing is one of many successful convictions from Operation Tourway.
Hussain, from Dewsbury, was jailed for 11 years at Leeds Crown Court on Friday 12 July 2024.
Operation Tourway is a multi-year investigation by West Yorkshire Police into historical sexual exploitation of young females in North Kirklees. Hussain is the 26th man to be sentenced as part of Operation Tourway. A combined total of 378 years in prison has been handed down by the courts to men convicted in the investigation.
Operation Tourway involved eight females who were abused and exploited as young girls, all of whom should be praised for their bravery in coming forward. The survivors have displayed real determination in giving evidence through a lengthy trial and supported the police with their investigation to help secure these convictions.
Reliving the horrendous ordeals that these men put them through takes immense courage and we hope that securing convictions against their abusers offers them a sense of justice and that they feel heard.
At Switalskis, we represent a number of survivors of historical child sexual exploitation, including some of the women involved in Operation Tourway. Our dedication to supporting these survivors extends beyond this particular investigation. We are also deeply involved in other police operations in West Yorkshire, such as Operation Tendersea in Huddersfield and Operation Dalesway in Bradford, which similarly seek justice for victims of these heinous crimes.
