Men charged in Rotherham child abuse investigation
By Amy Clowrey
Three men have now been charged as part of an ongoing investigation into non-recent child abuse in Rotherham. These charges follow a lengthy police inquiry into serious allegations dating back many years. The trial is currently listed for November 2026 at Sheffield Crown Court. It is hoped that date will be brought forward.

Basharat Dad, 40, Nasser Dad, 44, and Reza Tavakoli, 54, have been charged with multiple offences relating to the sexual exploitation and abuse of two girls aged between 13 and 16, which is alleged to have taken place between 2004 and 2009. Basharat Dad is charged with 13 counts of rape, four counts of trafficking within the UK for sexual exploitation, and one offence of false imprisonment. Nasser Dad is charged with two counts of rape. Reza Tavakoli is charged with one count of rape and one count of false imprisonment. Basharat Dad and Nasser Dad are currently in custody.
The charges form part of a wider investigation into historic abuse in Rotherham, under Operation Stovewood, highlighting the continued efforts to bring alleged perpetrators to justice.
