Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR)
At Switalskis, responsible business conduct is very important to us. We firmly believe in the positive role businesses can play within their communities. This includes making contributions and donations to charity, and conducting business in a sustainable and socially conscious way.
Our growth through recent integrations with Atherton Godfrey and Pryers Solicitors propelled us further on this path. As part of the integration, we established a CSR committee that includes representatives from all business areas, to refine our approach to corporate social responsibility.
Our CSR committee curated a list of potential charity partners. Through an all-staff vote, we shortlisted charities to collaborate with for three years from January 2024. The charities we’ve chosen to support are:
Bluebell Wood Children's Hospice is located in South Yorkshire. It provides care and support to children and young adults with life-shortening and life-threatening conditions, as well as their families. The hospice offers a range of services, including respite care, end-of-life care, music therapy, counselling, sibling support and home visits. Bluebell Wood relies heavily on fundraising and donations to deliver its services, and Switalskis is proud to have donated and volunteered to support this charity.
The Buddy Bag Foundation is dedicated to supporting children in emergency care who have experienced traumatic situations (such as domestic violence). The charity provides Buddy Bags. These are backpacks filled with essentials and comfort items to help children during their recovery. The charity’s goal is to restore a sense of comfort and dignity to children in crisis and help them to feel valued and cared for. Given Switalskis’ work with survivors of abuse and domestic violence, we feel a strong connection to this charity’s work and have seen the value of their efforts first-hand.
Community Links aims to improve the lives of people in disadvantaged communities. It works on the ground to tackle social issues such as poverty, unemployment, and mental health challenges. Its services include early intervention, advice, support for young people, employability training, community development, and policy advocacy. Community Links is known for its holistic approach and strong community engagement, and this commitment reflects Switalskis’ own feelings of responsibility towards our local community.
The Trussell Trust supports a nationwide network of food banks and works to end hunger and poverty. The organisation provides emergency food parcels to individuals and families in crisis and provides access to essential supplies. The Trussell Trust also helps people to resolve the underlying issues leading to food poverty, and campaigns for policy changes to address the root causes. The Trussell Trust relies on donations and volunteer efforts, and Switalskis is proud to support the charity’s mission.
Yorkshire Air Ambulance is a dedicated emergency service charity that provides rapid medical response to critical incidents across the county. The charity delivers life-saving pre-hospital care and urgent medical attention to patients following severe injury or illness. Yorkshire Air Ambulance is funded primarily through donations and fundraising activities and requires substantial financial support to maintain its operations. Switalskis has participated in awareness-raising activities for the charity.
Yorkshire Cancer Research funds research projects with the aim of preventing, diagnosing, and treating cancer. The charity works closely with local universities, hospitals, and healthcare professionals within the Yorkshire region to develop innovative treatments and support services. It also focuses on raising awareness about cancer prevention and early detection through public education campaigns. Many members of the Switalskis team have personal experiences with cancer, and we are committed to supporting the cause of Yorkshire Cancer Research.
