Switalskis launches new work experience programme to inspire next generation
By Amy Clowrey
Switalskis has launched a new work experience programme aimed at inspiring future legal talent and encouraging diversity in the legal sector.
Six successful work experience applicants from Yorkshire will join Switalskis’ legal professionals at the firm’s new Leeds offices between 28 and 31 October. These participants, who applied online, are either current students at Yorkshire universities or recent graduates.
The programme offers an introduction to the legal profession, designed to provide a hands-on experience in a growing law firm. Switalskis is focused on attracting local students from diverse educational backgrounds, allowing them to gain insight into the legal sector’s demands, structure, and various specialisms.
The cohort will develop employability skills and engage in networking opportunities with Switalskis’ current trainees and apprentices. The students will also join a face-to-face Q&A session with the firm’s managing director John Durkan and chief operating officer Tim Halstead.
Switalskis has seen growing interest from students keen to explore legal careers, and this programme provides them with a fair opportunity to secure a placement. Through its established partnerships with universities and local institutions, the firm has built a clear pathway for students to enter the legal workforce.
Jaron Shahidi, talent advisor at Switalskis, says: “This marks an important step for us as we refine our selection process and work experience programme structure. We’re committed to supporting and nurturing the next generation of legal talent and offer additional opportunities each year. We believe this initiative will help both Switalskis and applicants to make meaningful connections for the future.”
Amy Clowrey , director and solicitor in Switalskis’ child abuse compensation team and training principal, says: “We’re providing a purposeful, structured and supportive experience. It will give our cohort a real taste of what’s involved in being part of a fast paced and successful law firm. They’ll gain invaluable insights while networking, exploring different areas of law, and finding out about the various routes available to them to pursue a career in law. Our new work experience programme further solidifies our commitment to the future generation of lawyers and social mobility within the legal sector.”
