Switalskis expands Leeds Clinical Negligence team with new appointment
By Kay Barnes
Solicitor Emma Hudson has been appointed by Switalskis to strengthen our Leeds based clinical negligence team.
Emma joins our growing clinical negligence team of 83 people who are based in offices in London and across Yorkshire. She will primarily work on birth injury cases alongside Kay Barnes, who is head of the Leeds office.
Emma explains that her own experience of caring for her child with specific complex health needs and her bereavement gives her a high level of empathy. She says: “My own experience has given me a greater understanding of what our clients go through when they experience a significant life-changing event and its deep impact on the whole family.
“It’s a privilege to work so closely with clients and to be invited to look at the details of their cases, especially at a time when they are often facing unimaginable personal challenges. My role is to leave no stone unturned, to gather the facts of the case, to support families in their search for answers and achieve the justice they deserve to help them move forward with their lives.”
She qualified as a solicitor in 2013 having worked for three years at Michael Lewin Solicitors (now Oakwood Solicitors) specialising in road traffic accident and personal injury law. She then moved to Minster Law in Wakefield and Harrowells in York before she took a career break to care for her son.
Says Kay Barnes: “Emma’s appointment reflects our commitment to attracting, supporting and retaining the best professionals in the industry. She is a compassionate and skilled solicitor and I have no doubt that Emma will be an asset to our clinical negligence team and firm, guiding clients with empathy and expert advice. We are delighted she is joining us.”
Emma also has a Level 2 qualification in Counselling Skills and is a qualified swimming instructor, putting her skills into practice in her spare time.
