Child Abuse Compensation team wins YLA awards 2021
By David Greenwood
I’m pleased to say that last night, our child abuse compensation team won the ‘Litigation and Dispute Resolution award at the Yorkshire Legal Awards 2021. I attended the awards ceremony with a number of my colleagues and we were very proud to collect the award, which is another great piece of recognition for the work we do for survivors of child abuse.
As ever, our number one priority is to give our clients the support, care and advice that they need to move on from their past experiences and build a better life for themselves. It’s a real pleasure though to also see the great job we do for clients in such difficult circumstances being acknowledged in such a way from within the legal profession.
The judges said of the department’s work:
Litigation and dispute resolution work of the kind Switalskis is being recognised for, is highly demanding and difficult. Its child abuse compensation team are doing a fantastic job, with their work attracting national attention. They are very worthy winners.
The national recognition they referred to has largely come from our work on the Lambeth Redress Scheme and Medomsley Detention Centre, as well as the expertise we’ve built up on child abuse in the Church . We continue to build on that expertise and develop the skills and experience of our growing team, so that we can help more clients to move on from past abuse.
It’s a real privilege to do work like this which can make such a difference to the lives of the people we help. As a department, we’re very thankful to the judging panel at Yorkshire Legal Awards for seeing the great value in the work we do for our clients.
