Caroline will sit part-time whilst continuing with her legal work, where she is a specialist in institutional abuse claims and local authority negligence. She is also the point of contact for the young offender institution complaints for the team, working on key schemes including Medomsley Detention Centre, Kirk Levington and Eastwood Park.

Through her work, Caroline successfully negotiated the first non-adversarial scheme with the Ministry of Justice to compensate individuals who were mistreated during their sentence. She continues to campaign for survivors of abuse.

Alongside this, she is a Legal Aid supervising solicitor and a member of the Association of Child Abuse Lawyers.

Caroline commented: “Child abuse is a very specialist role it isn’t just a job. As a solicitor in this area for over 20 years I have observed the ‘closure’ that clients have when they are finally listened to. This is so important to survivors of abuse and sexual assault. I hope I can take my experience into my new role as Assistant Coroner for Bradford and bring ‘closure’ to bereaved families who have lost a loved one.  It is an absolute privilege to be able to serve the community of Bradford, Kirklees and Calderdale.”
