Ellie is a Graduate Solicitor Apprentice in the Court of Protection department, based in Huddersfield.
Ellie's is gaining experience of matters relating to section 21a under the Mental Capacity Act.
Ellie is new to the area after recently completing her law degree, but is already dedicated to using her newfound knowledge to help clients.
Ellie graduated with a law degree from the University of Huddersfield in July 2023 and joined Switalskis working in the Court of Protection health and welfare team shortly after.
Ellie then moved to the Child Abuse team, assisting the team on child sexual exploitation matters. She has since returned to the Court of Protection department.
As part of her apprenticeship, Ellie is studying for the SQE, with a view to qualifying in 2027.
10 October 2025 marks World Mental Health Day which is a chance to reflect on the importance of mental wellbeing especially for those whose lives have been affected by abuse. Individuals who have experienced abuse, whether domestic, sexual or psychological, can experience a significant impact on their mental health and wellbeing.
On 12 October 2023, we hosted the annual Mental Capacity Act Conference. This year's conference saw the knowledgeable and well respected Parishil Patel KC and Joseph O’Brien KC take the stage together to discuss approaches to fluctuating capacity and anticipatory orders.
