Sadie Simpson wins Rising Star award at Yorkshire Legal Awards 2019
By Sadie Simpson
Sadie Simpson from our Clinical Negligence team in Sheffield was named winner of the ‘Rising Star of the Year’ award in the Yorkshire Legal Awards last night. The ceremony took place at Royal Armouries in Leeds before an audience of hundreds of people from the local legal community.
Sadie qualified as a solicitor in 2016 and joined Switalskis in 2018. As a Clinical Negligence specialist she is involved with very challenging and emotive work but equally has great opportunities for progression. In the last year she has received a lot of praise from both our directors and her clients, for her dedication and first-class client care.
One of her most high-profile cases related to the tragic suicide of teenager Noah Lomax, where Sadie represented the family at an inquest. The family said of Sadie “She is really relatable. She has gone above and beyond for us, explaining and understanding Noah’s case. Sadie has always been there for us and we are very grateful.”
The inquest also resulted in changes to Mental Health Referral processes which could help young people get the care they need and help avoid similar situations in the future. Sadie spoke on BBC Look North about the growing problem of mental health issues among young people in the local area.
In their comments, the award judges said that “empathy is the defining quality of this future leader” and praised Sadie’s commitment to the company, her clients and the local community.
