The Child Abuse Compensation team at Switalskis welcomes guilty verdicts being handed down to six men who groomed and exploited teenage girls in Rotherham between 1998 and 2002.

Earlier today a jury handed down guilty verdicts to all six Defendants after a gruelling 6 week trial at Sheffield Crown Court as part of the National Crime Agency’s Operation Stovewood. The men Abid Saddiq, Sharaz Hussain, Masaued Malik, Aftab Hussain and two further men, who cannot be named for legal reasons, will face sentencing for the 20 child sexual exploitation offences committed between 1998 and 2002 on Friday 30 August 2019.

David Greenwood, director and head of the Child Abuse department at Switalskis, who represents 85 survivors of child sexual exploitation and abuse in Rotherham, said:

“Huge credit must go to the National Crime Agency who are working through child sexual exploitation complaints methodically and have already caught up with dozens of suspected abusers. I am confident that the sentences will reflect the seriousness of the crimes that these men committed. Whilst these women are unable to get their childhoods back I hope that justice such as we see here will go towards helping them move forward with their lives”
