Two brothers, Mark Wayne Evans (34) and Robert George Evans (37), have been convicted at Sheffield Crown Court for the historic sexual abuse of three teenage girls in Rotherham. The offences took place between 2006 and 2009 when the victims were aged between 13 and 15. Both men were found guilty of multiple counts of rape and sexual assault.

The investigation was part of Operation Stovewood, a large-scale inquiry led by the National Crime Agency into non-familial historical child sexual exploitation in Rotherham, covering offences from 1997 to 2013. This case highlights the ongoing efforts to seek justice for survivors of historic abuse, even many years after the offences occurred and the outcome sends a strong message that perpetrators of such crimes will be held accountable, emphasising the importance of survivors coming forward.

National Crime Agency senior investigator Kim Boreham said: “The victims bravely described how the brothers abused them in the worst ways, showing no remorse afterwards" and described the survivors as courageous.
