44 West Yorkshire arrests over historical child sex abuse
By Amy Clowrey
West Yorkshire Police have arrested 44 people over child sex abuse allegations against four women, taking place between 1995 and 2002
West Yorkshire Police launched an investigation into the abuse claims in the Kirklees area, primarily in Deswbury and Batley. Child Sexual Exploitation claims are taken with the upmost importance, and are highly sensitive matters. This investigation saw five men taken into custody at the end of 2018, with the rest of the suspects taken into custody over the past two weeks. This includes three women.
At Switalskis, our offices are based in West Yorkshire and we have represented and helped survivors of Child Sexual Exploitation cases in Rotherham, Huddersfield, Dewsbury and Bradford. We have also represented high profile cases from around the country.
David Greenwood, Head of our Child Abuse Department, stated that:
“It is a positive step forwards that these arrests have been made. It is admirable that these women have spoken out against the offenders and important that these investigations are thoroughly looked into. We must ensure the wellbeing of children and let people know that it is okay for them to speak up.”
