Michelle’s work includes advocacy for parents and children under the Children Act, both public and private law and under the Family Law Act such as:

  • Pre proceeding work – PLO (public law outline)
  • Care/supervision orders
  • Non accidental injury cases
  • Sexual abuse
  • Chronic neglect
  • Placement (adoption) orders
  • Discharge of orders
  • Applications for contact with a child in care
  • Deprivation of liberty
  • Special guardianship orders either as part of private or public law proceedings.
  • Complex private law proceedings
  • Recovery orders
  • Non-molestation and occupation order proceedings
  • Vulnerable clients (domestic abuse and parents with disabilities)

Michelle is a member of Resolution and is also a member of the Law Society Children’s Panel.

APPROACH

Michelle has a sensitive approach; she takes time to listen to her clients. She is able to provide clear advice often in difficult circumstances.

Michelle tailors any advice and communication to the needs of the client to ensure that they fully understand the process and what us expected of them. She’s used visual aids to assist in communication and communicates through various channels including in person appointments, over the phone, by email, text message and WhatsApp. Michelle prides herself on being thorough to ensure the best possible service to her clients.

EXPERIENCE

Michelle is regularly involved in complex cases including:

  • Representation of clients with cognitive/learning difficulties involving intermediaries and lay advocates
  • Representation of clients who lack litigation capacity
  • Representation of vulnerable clients
  • Representation of clients where significant findings have been sought against them for physical, sexual, and/or emotional abuse along with failure to protect, lack of supervision and failure to seek appropriate medical attention
