Abuse in South London and beyond
By Amy Clowrey
Over the last few years Switalskis has represented over 600 people who suffered abuse in the London Borough of Lambeth, South London.
Through our work on the Lambeth Children’s Home Redress Scheme it has become very clear that a number of other homes, to which many Lambeth children were sent, were also places in which horrific child sexual and physical abuse took place.
Unfortunately, the scheme did not cover abuse suffered in these non-Lambeth placements and so we are currently investigating these complaints with a view to bringing civil claims against those responsible for running these homes.
Our initial research indicates that the following children’s homes were homes in which a number of children suffered from physical and/or sexual abuse:
- Middlesex Lodge
- Herne Bay
- Mcrae Lodge
- The Hollies
- Orchard Lodge
- Coombe Hall
- Frant Court
We are also receiving reports of abuse occurring at Pine End School, Royal Philanthropic School for Boys at Redhill and Redhill Assessment Centre.
If you or anyone you know has been affected by abuse in any of these homes and wish to discuss the possibility of bringing a civil action confidentially, then please contact us. Call 0800 138 4700 or email amy.clowrey@switalskis.com.
