Sadie Simpson nominated for ‘Rising Star’ award
By Clare Gooch
Sadie Simpson – a Medical Negligence and Inquest specialist from our Sheffield office has been nominated for a prestigious ‘Rising Star’ award at the forthcoming Yorkshire Legal Awards. The winner will be announced on the 10th October in Leeds.
The nomination is in recognition of the way that Sadie has managed her own caseload within the highly technical and demanding areas she works in, whilst still retaining her focus on first-class client care and empathy. One notable case has been the recent inquest into the tragic death of Noah Lomax, 15 .
Sadie showed great dedication to this case and deservedly received praise from Noah’s family who happily lent their support and kind words to her nomination for the award. Sadie’s involvement included an interview for BBC Look North in which she spoke of her determination to help the family ensure that if nothing else, lessons were learned from the tragic loss of Noah at such a young age.
The case also resulted in media exposure through Sheffield Live, the Sheffield Star and Hallam FM, all of which will have helped to raise the focus on the mental health of young people locally. As a result of the inquest, CAMHS (Children and Adolescent Mental Health Services) have made changes to their referral process, which was found to have contributed to Noah’s death and made plans for a further review to improve the process even further.
Sadie is also committed to the Sheffield Community and sits as an active Trustee on the board of Sheffield Carers Centre. She is a valued member of the Board and is always assisting in events, to raise awareness and money for the Charity.
The Directors and all staff at Switalskis congratulate Sadie on this well-deserved achievement and wish her all the very best for the ceremony in October.
